Morgan Archer

Morgan is a sailor who, in 2012, started competing in Topper youth competitions and worked his way up through the Royal Yachting Association Youth Steering Group, which helps develop the attributes needed to progress into Youth and Olympic racing for a selected group of promising sailors.

By 2016 Morgan had started racing 29ers - these are high-performance skiffs that are faster than Toppers and demanded a higher degree of skill and physical fitness from Morgan. In February 2017 Morgan and his crew competed in the 29er Winter Championships, finishing in 1st Place among junior teams and 8th Place overall place in a mixed eight-race contest that included junior (under-16), youth and adult teams. Morgan’s team won several subsequent contests and finished the racing season as the top junior team for 2016/17.

Morgan was the first person to receive all three of the awards that Swale Youth Development Fund bestows: the Gerry Cassell Annual Special Award, the Richard Moreton Bursary Fund and the Best Achiever trophy.
